Fresh Off the Boat...

We just returned from our much needed cruise vacation. It was fabulous!! After a night in the hospital and nearly two months of Salmonella we were so ready for some time to get away and recharge. We have so much to celebrate and spent the past week with family on a fantastic boat sailing through the beautiful warm Caribbean celebrating the entire time. LD loved our balcony and was so excited to see family. He started the cruise in his stranger danger phase but by the middle of the week was trying to get anyone, even strangers, to pick him up. There was no shortage of people willing to pick him up and have a conversation with him. The crew miss their families and all catered to every toddler fantasy imagineable. It was so much fun to wake up each morning and walk out to see the beautiful port that awaited us. My parents came and sat with LD while he slept a few nights so Mommy and Daddy could go see some shows at night. It was nice because we haven't left him with a sitter ever so it was nice to have some time together. He ate so much we were sure he'd gain ten pounds during the cruise. He was a champ during our nightly 2 hour dinners. At home when we go out we don't usually do long sit down dinners but we were a group of 12 so there was lots of help entertaining during dinner. The cruiseline even offered a daily playgroup, activities, and nightly storytime for kids LD's age. He loved the ocean and there were so many places on the ship to explore. It's hard to transition back to reality but here we are. It snowed here today so it is much, much different than the 90 degrees we experienced in Haiti just a few days ago.
